A Hopeful prayer for the new year
Pope Leo XIV
Heavenly Father,
As we enter this new year (2026), we rise together to stand in the gap before You. We lift our voices in faith, believing that You hear us from heaven and that You answer in Your perfect time.
Lord, we pray for our families— for love, unity, healing and protection. We pray for our church, that it may be a light of hope, truth and compassion. We pray for our careers and work, asking for wisdom, provision and open doors. We lift our children and spouses, asking that You guide their steps, guard their hearts and surround them with Your peace. We pray for our communities and our country, that justice, peace and righteousness may prevail.
Father, we also remember those who are hurting: The homeless, may they find shelter and dignity, The sick and needy, may they experience comfort, strength and healing. The displaced and persecuted, may You be their refuge and defender. The depressed, oppressed, crushed and broken, may Your light reach them and restore hope to their hearts.
Lord, remind us not to grow tired or weary in prayer. Renew our strength when we feel weak. Help us to rise again and again, knowing that praying for one another is both our responsibility and our privilege.
We trust that You hear us today. We trust that answers are on the way. We trust that this new year is held securely in Your hands.
May the God of heaven and earth receive our prayers and release His Grace, Mercy and Peace upon us all.
We begin this year in HOPE, FAITH and LOVE.
Amen.

Even though we are hermits, we are never alone. Our Father (God - the Creator), our Spouse (Jesus Christ) and our Friend (Holy Spirit), as well as Mary ( Blessed Mother and Queen of Heaven) and St. Joseph (Mary’s most chaste spouse and Jesus’s foster Father) and our Angels are always with us.
During the current storms - Hurricane Lala and Hurricane Lowell, they were with us.
They Blessed us with caring neighbors, who checked on our well-being.
They Blessed us by instilling knowledge to purchase cases of water for drinking and for our hygiene from Longs; filling our 5 gallon water jugs at the Malama Service Station to flush our toilets, since our water pump was inoperable. We now have Rain Barrels to collect water, while it is raining!!!
They Blessed us with having bread, crackers and can goods from Longs. We were able to heat our food on our propane stove and ate our meals in our covered carport on our small portable table with chairs.
They Blessed us with batteries for our radio, fans and candles.
They Blessed us with regular candles, that Sr. Avia makes, in the event all the batteries die.
They Blessed us with a vehicle, whose name is Maria, that provided charging for our cellphones and air conditioning to cool off our i’li’os (‘Olu’olu and Milo).
Our Hope is that the Holy Trinity, Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and the Angels were surrounding you too!!!
